Do You Have Low OEE?

Do you have low OEE?

According to Wikipedia, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measurement is a commonly used key performance indicator designed to provide an indicator of success. Specifically, OEE is a hierarchy of metrics developed in the 1960s to evaluate how effectively a manufacturing operation is utilized. Overall equipment effectiveness quantifies how well a manufacturing unit performs relative to its designed capacity, during the periods when it is scheduled to run.

Oracle® Manufacturing Operations Center (MOC) provides the basis for accurate and timely information about product and process quality, insight into manufacturing operations, and performance of manufacturing assets. It solves the complex problem of connecting fragmented disconnected shop floor data to the business context of your back office systems. This combination delivers near real-time monitoring and analysis of shop floor operations – a foundation for running Continuous Improvement (CI) programs such as Lean and Six Sigma. MOC enables Plant Managers and Production Supervisors to monitor production performance in real-time through pre-built analytical dashboards and reports. It provides aggregate level analysis on key performance indicators such as production throughput, equipment availability, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and production cycle times.

Inspirage has assisted several companies with the evaluation and implementation of MOC.  We have worked with customers and Oracle to integrate the shop floor data directly into Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center solution to help improve production efficiencies, reduce silos, improve collaboration, and increase overall manufacturing performance.  One specific engagement focused on gathering all the operational parameters during the production cycle so that control limits could be identified to ensure the highest product quality. All of these efforts worked to increase / improve the OEE.
