There is a nice article published by Bridget McCrea in SupplyChain247 magazine that you’ll find of interest. In this she writes about “8 Trends that are Driving Double-Digit TMS Adoption” by outlining research done by the ARC Advisory Group team led by Steve Banker, Director SCM Research. Steve also provides a video webinar outlining the results of ARC Advisory Group’s recent “Transportation Management Systems – Global Market Research” study.
“The simple, bottom line is that TMS can save companies money by lowering their freight spend.”
Steve Banker points to the ARC survey as proof of that point, adding that over 40 percent of respondents felt that if they were forced to give up their TMS and go back to more manual processes for planning and execution, their total freight costs would increase by 5 percent to 10 percent. “In fact, 23 percent felt their total freight costs under the control of the TMS would increase by over 10 percent if they were to stop using it,” he adds. This is a nice outline that is worth viewing and Steve provides the contact details for how to purchase the entire study.
