IBP Process for End-to-End Supply Chain Management
A vertically integrated, family-owned manufacturer and retailer sought to fully support and further enhance its omnichannel strategy by implementing an Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process. With numerous new products entering its catalogs for big holiday rushes and 60% of their business sales from Christmas and Mother’s Day, the company needed better forecasting, replenishment and reporting methodologies to reduce its on-hand inventory levels, as well as its manufacturing volatility. Work began with retooling their existing S&OP processes, but also included benchmarking assessments and training, with the help of the Inspirage Management Consulting team.
In addition to revamping its organizational structure, the company received Management Consulting Services from Inspirage. After Inspirage management consultants were introduced to the project, the replenishment approach between the stores and distribution centers were completely re-engineered. Safety stock levels were also established, resulting in significant reductions in store inventories as well as a more stable manufacturing schedule. Benchmarking identified areas in the supply chain to be addressed and prioritized. The supply chain structure was re-organized, and IBP learning was rolled out to stakeholders beyond executive management.
